In January of 2010 P. Kaufman came out with a unique pattern called
Shell Trellis.
At the time we did not carry many woven fabrics,
but, we were always on the lookout for aqua.
And, that was the first color we bought.
Little did we know how popular this would be!
The fabric is a cotton matelasse.
That means it has been woven to resemble quilts
that were made in the Marseilles area of France.
This fabric has a pattern of a rope work trellis,
which created a diamond pattern
Each diamond of the trellis has a single shell
worked against a background of narrowly woven horizontal stripes.
The shells stand out from this background,
giving a quilted effect to the fabric.
And, being cotton, it has a nice feel.
The fabric was produced in several beiges and whites,
deep blue, orangey red, and brown, as well as the aqua.
We grew bold,
and bought several colors,
a cream, a dark blue, the red, and brown.
Then it was produced in the outdoor line, which are polyester.
But, all things come to an end,
and
this past year the cotton Shell Trellis were discontinued.
We bought all there was of the aqua and the cream.
We ran through our cream, and opened the last bolt, to find-
it was not our cream!
It was a color that was off white-
but, not one from the line.
So, just added-
is our new off-white!
This is a one time run,
as it has been discontinued, and there isn’t any stock at the company.
At this time, we have quite a bit of the aqua,
some of the brown, and some of the new off-white,
and a few yards of some of the outdoor colors.
For all the colors of P Kaufmann’s Shell Trellis
that we have see
